About Taste of Guyana

Taste of Guyana is a celebration of the food that fills our homes — the pepperpot bubbling on Christmas morning, the Saturday pot of cook-up rice, the pholourie frying at the snackette, the bake and saltfish that starts the weekend right.

Guyanese cooking is a beautiful blend of influences — African, Indian, Indigenous, Portuguese, Chinese and more — all simmered together over generations. Our goal is simple: to write these recipes down clearly and honestly, so they can be cooked in any kitchen, by anyone, anywhere in the world. Whether you grew up eating these dishes or you're discovering them for the first time, you're welcome here.
